  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth, then place in a greased bowl to rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  5. Once risen, roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  6. Spread crushed tomatoes over the dough, sprinkle with salt, and layer with mozzarella and basil.
