Smothered Green Beans

A delicious twist on classic green beans, combining turkey bacon and chicken ham for a savory side dish.

  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 cup chicken ham, diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the turkey bacon and cook until crisp.
  3. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels.
  4. In the same skillet, add onion and garlic; sauté until soft.
  5. Add the green beans and chicken ham, stirring to combine.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  7. Cover and cook on low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Crumble the crispy bacon over the top before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of lemon juice before serving.
  • Can substitute regular bacon for turkey bacon if preferred.
