  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
  5. Gradually stir in the boiling water, mixing until well combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • For a richer flavor, add a teaspoon of espresso powder to the batter.
